THE FASH PACK by Naomi Mdudu Emma Stone's Latest Revlon Campaign Is Out May 18, 2012 6:00 AM I can't get enough of Emma Stone . Over the last few years she's really come into her own style-wise and the fun but youthful Lanvin creation that she wore to the Met Gala felt like a breathe of fresh air and definitely cemented her position as a red carpet favourite. But fashion isn't the only area that the actress is making major waves in. Since signing up as the spokesperson for Revlon , her campaigns continue to go down well and yesterday these images dropped showing her latest campaigns for the brand that are set to go worldwide next month. Haul.....IN!!! - A Love Story by Donnie L Haul In - Operation - Eyes & Lips! May 17, 2012 3:48 PM I know it’s been forever since the first blog, but I wanted this first haul to be extra “spesh” (I will definitely post m y terminology blog at a later date.) So without further adieu… http://www.bhcosmetics.com/ I have been dying to try this brand of make up for MONTHS, and I finally achieved that goal. Okay, so I had to wait until they sent the rest of my order due to it being backordered. This was well worth it. BH Cosmetics has b e en around for a while, and the go-to company for their palettes, which are EXTREMELY INEXPENSIVE! I actually caught mine on sale- which they give often. I was a bit “skept” about the quality of their products, but once I opened this puppy, I was…HAUL IN! This 120-color eyeshadow palette is BH’s fourth edition. I’m going to eventually collect all five, but I started with this one because it has the colors that I need (ya know, according to my war-drobe*) Aren’t these colors pretty? I will definitely tell you this: these colors wor k on EVERY shade of woman, from the Vanilla Beans to the Dark Chocolate Mochas. You can definitely wear this eyeliner with or without eye primer (I suggest that you do in order to get that POP!) You can play with the colors to your hearts’ content. HOWEVER….I must warn you that the discs full of color are the size of a dime. Play, but don’t play too hard. Once I finished playing around and snapping photos of the eyeshadow, I immediately ripped into the… 66-color Lip Gloss Palette! I c annot begin to tell you how much I am in LOVE with these colors. I mean, you can go complete natural, to looking like U h ura from Star Trek (Please Google the Uhura reference – I love Nichelle Nichols!) There’s even some blue, silver and gold lip gloss choices for those who are exceptionally daring. It’s highly glossy, and even has a white lip gloss choice to balance the colors out a bit. Trust me, the possibilities are endless! Now that I spoke about these wonderful products, let’s talk price! BH Cosmetics is like I said, VERY INEXPENSIVE! “ Inexpensive, how?” You are probably asking me. Allow me to explain. The 120-Color Eye s hadow Palette – 4 th Edition is available for $34.95. I took advantage of their sale and caught this gem for $17.95. The 66-Color Palette Lip Gloss is $18.95. I signed up for their e-mail list and caught their 24-hour sale of this product for $11.00! Feel free to do the math! Mind you, BH Cosmetics have sales going on every day on specific products as well as 24-hour hot items and sneak peeks at a discounted rate. You can’t go wrong with catching a bargain on this website. The delivery is awesome, which only took a week. The bonus of this is…..UPS gives you a tracking number an hour to 3 hours after your purchase! Oh, and can I mention the hassle-free return in your product is damaged?  BH Cosmetics is awesome! All in all, BH Cosmetics delivered in their products. I am in love with their colors & quality…and the price! I’m looking forward to buying their makeup bru s h set soon – once it’s no longer on backorder. Hope you enjoyed this Haul-In session. You will see the results of my make-up in my next blog. I promise you, the next blog is going to be super “spesh”.   Hint: Swag, Pink , Night Out.     Are YOU Haul-In?
Beauty & The Blog by Andrea Claire Marc Anthony Hair Care launches in Singapore May 17, 2012 1:36 PM um... Go CANADA!!! Yes. Marc Anthony is Canadian. And he's totes adorb s! We aren't besties or anything but we met on a shoot; season one of Superstar Hair Challenge . I was the lead makeup artist who led a team of fabulous artists collaborating with the hairstylists competing on the reality show... many moons ago... Now, Marilisa (Marc Anthony's Artistic Director) and I are friends. We met when Marilisa was my 2nd in command for Toronto's Fashion Week. (That doesn't mean assistant, it means second in command, like Spock. Marilisa was my Spock.] Marilisa messaged me via the Twittisphere wondering about modeling agencies here in Singapore. My response? A giddy "OMG ARE YOU COMING!!!" This is when I discovered that she indeed was and that Marc Anthony HC was launching in Singapore. I have over the years of living in Canada tried some of the Marc Anthony product but for the most part when I was introduced to the brand I was under contract with L'Oreal Paris so 99.9% of what I used, especially in media and on camera was L'Oreal Paris. I have really gotten my hairstylist's claws into it this week. This photo was my office for Cosmo (Singapore). I still need to play around with the products cuz they gave me A LOT but, off the top recos: bye-bye Frizz Blow Dry Cream - this was a special delivery. The distributors decided not to carry it. Why not? Who knows. I love it and it would be perfect here. You sexy BEACH!! That's what they should have called this Dream Waves Amplify , I mean who doesn't want sexy Giselle CFM hair? (You in the back sit down) A little Instantly Thick at the roots takes your flat hair up a notch. I'm showing a pattern here with the creams and lotions aren't I? I used this Strictly Curls on a client for a lovely Veronica Lake wave. Why do I like creams and lotions? They are lightweight and non-sticky. You get bounce, definition... whatever you are looking for but with soft tangible hair. TIP : do not put in product when your hair is soaking wet otherwise the ingredients get dilluted and the results can be a weaker hairstyle. Check back because I will be testing this bye bye FRIZZ 30 day no frizz treatment that IS AVAILABLE IN SINGAPORE ! In fact... I have 2. hmmm... gives me an idea... BONUS!!! I think I may just give one away. Check out my FACEBOOK for details. Sorry Singapore residents only ask Marc to do a giveaway in your country. ;) Marc Anthony HC is available globally and they have a wicked site with loads of tricks and tips. Check them out here. Grouchy sidenote cuz that's how I roll: I excitedly mentioned the Marc Anthony event to editors on set and the fact that my friend and peer was going to be here to launch it. I then found out that I was invited to the blogger event and not to the media event with my peers. I am not a blogger.  I am a hair & makeup artist with a blog so, different; I love what I do and you just can't shut me up from sharing. So PR companies: if you send me a 'Dear Blogger' I just delete it. I didn't delete this invite because of my pal Marilisa, not because of the PR company here. I know everyone is getting their footing still in the world of online media but I happen to know a few tv host / celeb types who have blogs; I know beauty editors who have blogs and neither of these peeps get blogger invites; they get media invites...At media events we know not to take the displayed products and shove them into our handbags, we graciously accept our media swag bags and press kits from our hosts as we leave. just sayin'
Beauty and the Budget by valeriekw What Can You Buy With One Day's Worth of Your Salary? May 17, 2012 7:00 AM What can you buy with one day's worth of your salary? Right now, I make about $76 a day, before taxes, which really isn't much. That means that on Monday, when I made an after work Rite-Aid makeup run, I practically worked an entire day for a tiny tube of  RoC Eye Cream ($21.99 at Ulta ), a small bottle of  Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Moisturizer ($18.69 at Ulta ),  Maybelline Colossal Mascara ($6.99 at Ulta ), and a can of  Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo ($5.99 at Ulta ). Plus I bought an Apple Pecan Salad from Wendy's ($6.99) for lunch. All of my money was spent in one day. I really wanted to kick myself when I came to that realization. It was like a spiritual financial wakening. Of course, I believe I invested wisely in a great eye cream and an anti-aging moisturizer (all of which I am hoping will last at least four to five months), but I'm still disappointed that my money disappeared in a day. I could have put that money towards new contact lenses or my next oil change. On a much lighter note, let's have a little fun with this topic. To make it easy, let's say you make $10 an hour. That's $80 a day for a full 40 hour work week. You're definitely on a budget at that rate, especially if you're supporting yourself. Let's look at all of your spending options, and tell me which item you're most likely to go for!

StyleITOnline.com by Sarah Conley Beauty Break: Molton Brown Launches Anti-Ageing Skincare & Bodycare Collection May 16, 2012 1:58 PM What happens when everyone's favorite bodycare line launches anti-aging skincare? A beautifully crafted, diverse and powerful range of products are born. The 13 piece collection is built around the concept that beauty should be low maintenance and high performance in four simple daily steps. While the collection does have mainstay products like cleansers, toners and moisturizers, there are also targeted (and interesting) solutions like the Pep-Rich Lip Booster , which helps to diminish the appearance of fine lines and boost moisture, or the Karanja Tree Sunshield , a mattifying sunscreen that can be applied over or under makeup. Prices range from $42 to $98, a reasonable price point for such an established brands entry into anti-ageing skincare. In addition, Molton Brown's collection has clinical studies to back each product's claims and ingredients sourced from all over the world. That's not an inexpensive proposition. What are your thoughts on Molton Brown? Do you love their products?

But here at ShopStyle HQ we were equally dazzled her make-up, teaming this season's must-have sultry Dior crimson lips with a naturally beautiful bronze smoky eye. Her skin looked heavenly as always and HD ready with plenty of shimmering skin highlighter to enhance her trademark glow. We think she just looks better with age wouldn't you agree? My Beauty Obsession by candiedstars Review: Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Powder May 15, 2012 7:40 PM A relative went on a vacation to New York and I got her to help me purchase the Makeup Forever (MUFE) HD Powder. I bought the MUFE HD liquid foundation in New York last year and I liked it, and I am wondering what would the effects be if I coupled it with the HD powder and whether it would photograph beautifully. There's only 10grams of powder but only very little is required. I've realized that I need a lesser amount with the MUFE HD powder as compared with other loose powders such as Jill Stuart's. Very finely milled loose powder. Looks like corn starch powder actually! But once applied, it blends in without too much effort or blending required and there is no white cast on my face both in person and in photos. Oil control is average, and I need to blot about 4-5 hours later. The overall finish is very smooth and it hides the pores that are often most visible on my nose. There is a brightening effect without a whitish cast. My complexion looks so smooth! I am pleased that I bought it. Pair it with MUFE HD foundation for photo-ready look!     The products used: Base: - MUFE HD Foundation - MUFE HD Powder Concealer: - Bobbi Brown Cream Concealer (not pictured) Eyes: - Cybercolours Black eyeliner - Giorgio Armani Eyes to kill in 01 Blast of Blue (Haul post here) Brows: - Maybelline eyebrow pencil Cheeks: - Chanel Joues Contraste in 67 Rose Tourbillon Lips: - Guerlain Rouge Automatique in 162 (Haul post here)   I paid SGD43 (USD35) and my relative bought this in Sephora US store. This retails for SGD59 in our local Sephora (pls correct me if I am mistaken). It is quite worthwhile to purchase it from the US.

My Beauty Obsession by candiedstars CandyDoll Makeup Base & Liquid Foundation [Review, Swatch, Info, Prices] May 15, 2012 12:45 AM       I've received a sachet of CandyDoll Makeup Base SPF 30 and Liquid Foundation to review. I've put it to the test by wearing it out on a full day. Here's what I think of it. CandyDoll Makeup Base SPF30   The makeup base is pinkish in tone, which helps to brighten complexion. It is a light-weighted beige base that has sun protection with SPF30, covers pores and conceals slight imperfection. It evened out my skin tone and skin texture, and helped my makeup to last for about 6-8 hours. I usually blot my face after wearing makeup for 6 hours. It has a brightening effect on my skin, and added radiance to my otherwise dull skin.   CandyDoll Liquid Foundation This is in 02 which is a neutral tone with a slight yellow tint. The below picture shows me without makeup (eeps ._.) on one side and with CandyDoll makeup base and liquid foundation (without concealer) on the other. The coverage is light and very easy to blend to achieve coverage that looks like my skin but better. It evened out my skin tone and concealed most of my blemishes / scars as well as undereye circles that I don't think I would need a separate concealer. Appearance of pores were minimized and I could hardly see the pores on my nose. I also dusted the CandyDoll loose powder and my complexion became smooth as a marshmallow (that's for another entry). Overall, the CandyDoll makeup base and liquid foundation provided adequate coverage while letting my skin breathe without feeling too sticky / heavy. The Hyaluronic and Ceramide contents in the liquid foundation helps to keep my moisturized and I did not feel that my face was dehydrated when I forgot to apply moisturiser before applying the foundation.   Both the makeup base and liquid foundation were a joy to use as they were easy to blend and doesn't feel oily. It evens out skin tone, texture and reduce sallowness and covered some of my blemishes without the need of a separate concealer. An affordable makeup base and foundation that works well.   Prices: CandyDoll Makeup Base SPF30: SGD37.90 CandyDoll Liquid Foundation: SGD41.90 CandyDoll Compact Powder Foundation: SGD40.90 CandyDoll Concealer: SGD26.90 CandyDoll Loose Powder: SGD33.90     Check out my review on other CandyDoll cosmetics like blush and lipgloss here. My Beauty Obsession by candiedstars CandyDoll Lip Gloss - Cotton Candy [Review, Swatch, LOTD, Prices, Info] May 14, 2012 10:51 PM CandyDoll cosmetics is a very popular makeup brand and I saw it in every drugstore while I was in Japan last month. Created by Masuwaka Tsubasa who is one of the top popteen models in Japan and often graced the covers of magazines such as vivi, popteens etc. In 2008, Tsubasa ventured into the make up line and started with only 2 items (lip gloss and lip concealer). Both items went on to become very popular makeup items as the gyaru (japanese for gal)  and nude lip look became a makeup trend. CandyDoll cosmetics has since expanded its collection and is now available in Singapore at Watsons! I have received the CandyDoll lipgloss in Cherry Juice and have had the chance to try out the lipgloss for 2 weeks. The lipgloss has just been released at Watsons and I am very eager to try out the Cherry Juice because I have always been apprehensive about red lip colour. But japanese cosmetics don't typically make very bright lipcolours so I have faith that this is great way to get started! From the tube, CandyDoll lipgloss in Cherry Juice appears to be a bright, cool tone & sultry red gloss. I took out my Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush lipgloss in cherry for a comparison. It is my only red lipgloss that I have in my stash and it's a gift from a friend. As you can see, I've hardly used it. Victoria's Secret lipgloss is dispensed through a squeeze tube which is more hygienic but may not allow very precise application which is something that I want especially when applying a pigmentated red lipgloss. CandyDoll's lipgloss has an doe foot applicator which doesn't allow for hygienic application but allows for precise application. From the swatch above, you can see there's glitter present in VS's lipgloss and none in CandyDoll's and the colour is slightly more intense in CandyDoll's. Here is how it looks on the lips. One coat on my lips didn't turn my lips bright red but gave my lips a glossy reddish tint with only one coat of lipgloss, making it suitable for day or a night look. I can put on another layer if I want sultry and kissable lips for date night. I love this cherry juice lipgloss more than I originally thought I would because it is so wearable and for someone who doesn't wear red on the lips, this is quite something! A red lipgloss that I would reach for, over and over again. Here's the finished look; pls excuse the wet fringe. :P I had to apply some styling products to get it to behave. At the end of a work day, before heading out for dinner, I can layer on more gloss to perk up my makeup look & making it more suitable for a night out.   I applied two coats of CandyDoll's lipgloss in Juicy cherry here and the red really shows through. A beautiful cool red with high shine factor. Very wearable!   CandyDoll lipgloss retails for SGD25.90 at Major Watsons stores. Do check out the lipsticks as well, the shades will work well with most look, especially with a strong eye makeup. Ramune pink will suit most skintones well. Here's a swatch of CandyDoll's lipsticks: My review on other CandyDoll's cosmetics: Base Makeup Cheek Colour   CandyDoll cosmetics is exclusively available at major Watsons. Primp. Play. Ponder. by Chanel Woods-Joe [Primp] Color Your Pucker - NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil May 14, 2012 10:37 AM "I want lips so perfect you want to kiss them but wouldn't dare ruin them!" And after three bouts of application, eyeballing, sighing and removing, a more than helpful Sephora sales associate steered me in the direction of NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl and I all but squealed with delight. Not only is the color vibrant and bright, but this handly little pencil stamps out the need for lip liner and doesn't have the same drying effect as some other lip stains and pencils. With 17 shades to choose from there's no way you won't love this handy lipstick alternative that's available online and at your friendly neighborhood Sephora.

THE FASH PACK by Naomi Mdudu Tributes Flood In For Vidal Sassoon May 14, 2012 6:00 AM Last week famed hair stylist Vidal Sassoon sadly passed away in his Mulholland Drive home as a result of an unspecified illness and ever since, there has been a flood of tributes from colleagues and celebrities about his work. US Vogue creative director Grace Coddington was one of the first, talking about working with him in the Sixties on his famous five point haircut. 'He was key to that whole look in the early Sixties, that youth quake thing in London. The [five point] cut gave you a certain freedom. You weren't chained to the salon, and you certainly didn't have to go and have it set with big rollers under a hair dryer for a couple of hours,' she told The New York Times. 'He did it with a hand-held hair dryer, so it wasn't quite drip-dry, but it was remarkable. It was a cut so precisely worked out that, no matter which way you shook it, there was never a sort of long piece hanging over the wrong side.' Fellow hair stylist Nicky Clarke also spoke about hi after the news broke. 'He was a hugely significant - probably the most iconic of all hairdressers,' he told BBC's Newsnight. 'Certainly hairdressers around today - myself included - have a huge debt to this man who changed the way people felt about their hair.' Talking to Vogue.com, Daniel Hersheson expressed the same feeling. 'Vidal created a movement that transformed women, creating modern feminine looks - a beauty and style that had simply never been seen before...On behalf of myself and my son Luke Hersheson , along with everybody who works at Daniel Hersheson, we would like to thank Vidal Sassoon for everything he gave the hairdressing industry. He was a true icon.'

The plum scent is a lot softer than Wild Bluebell and epitomises everything that you would want from a light summer fragrance. The scent combines a fruitiness from the yellow plum and nectarine blossom with creamy sandalwood and clean white musk. Plum Blossom is limited edition and is available in stores this month with prices ranging from £36 to £72.
A Moment to Remember. by MintyVintage Sponsored review: Enavose Cellogist Youth Guard Cream May 13, 2012 8:35 AM I have been missing for the month of May. Enavose sent me their much-raved  Cellogist Youth Guard Cream to try about 2 weeks back, but the parcel got sent to my old office so I could only pick it up from my ex-colleague Agnes a few days back. Work has been hectic as well so pardon me for this late review. Again, I am impressed by the thought and effort put into each parcel by their marketing team. It never fails to make me smile and anticipate the opening of the parcel, and this particular message resonates with me: - because i always like to say i'm still sweet 16! LOL. I was quite excited when I saw what's inside - a test-tube with a scroll inside. I think it's been a decade since i touched a test-tube. LOL. and also the compact mirror is handy and quite apt for this product. The Cellogist Youth Guard Cream is an award-winning product - Style Best Beauty Buys 2011 and CozyCot Holy Grail Awards 2011 for Best Cellular Youth Protection. The cream is housed in a plain, plastic bottle that looks kind of inexpensive. But the good thing is that unlike other creams in jars that are always exposed to air/bacteria, this comes with a pump which dispenses the cream easily. What it does This Youth Guard Cream promises to bolster skin’s natural restorative mechanism and effectively fights against environmental and internal stresses that are responsible for premature ageing. A powerhouse antioxidant trio of Rice, Pomegranate and Resveratrol works in synergistic harmony with our exclusive technology to rejuvenate, firm, hydrate and restore collagen production. Based on the Nobel Prize-winning discovery of telomere science, Cellogist’s proprietary CS-IT defines skin ageing through comprehensive skin health support. The 8 Benefits Helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines Helps improve skin collagen density and elasticity Helps reduce sun and age spots Helps increase epidermal moisture levels Boosts radiance and glow Refines pore appearance Softens and smoothens skin texture Strengthens skin resistance and defence to external pollutants     Honestly, I'm always a little skeptical of beauty products that claim to have many benefits (ie. Olay 7-in-1 Total Effects range) as well as target a wider age group of women. When I was younger, yes, these kind of products appeal because it's like multi-tasking and cost-efficient. But now that i'm older, I find that a one-size-fits-all item doesn't appeal as much to me. I feel that beauty products should focus on one/two specific benefits (ie. minimise pores, reduces freckles etc.) And some of the listed benefits are not really visible or testable to us. Hence, personally I don't like the whole 8 benefits claim for this product as I think it feels a little like a "overpromise, underdeliver" marketing strategy.   Review Noting that it is a cream and not a lotion, I didn't pump too much out because I was told that it might be a little too rich/oily for those with oily skin or acne. Even though my skin is pretty combination/dry, I think a one-pump amount is more than enough as the cream is quite rich and intense. It spreads and goes on easily and smooth on the face, and has this pleasant and calming smell that I like. The texture is kind of velvety and smells similar to this other product I love, which is VICHY Normaderm Tri-activ anti-imperfection hydrating care (found in Watson's). But it's not a matte finish, so i prefer to use this only at night. One pump amount -> Rubbing the cream in -> Fully absorbed See how there is a little shine and brightening of the skin in the last pic? My skin also feels smooth to the touch but I can't verify their 8 benefits till I use it for longer. Also, I personally don't find it suitable for both day and night or even a everyday moisturiser as I do find it a little oily/rich for my 20s skin so I advise that you don't use too much if you are in the same age range. Overall I like this cream as I am someone who is quite particular about the smell and texture of my beauty products. If they smell pleasant to me and are easy to apply then it's already half the battle won. I also tried applying this as a hand and leg cream and really like how they feel after that, so smooth to touch! :D I also like to use this on the neck as it is easy to apply without tugging the delicate skin. However I must say this cream is pretty pricey at $99.50 (30ml, short life span of 12mths after opening), so I will really need to be able to see results before I will think of repurchasing. Since I have some freckles on the left side of my face, as well as some fine lines on my forehead, i will be using this for the next few weeks to target them and see how it goes.   Where to buy If you would like to get this cream, there is a promo pack that is meant for Mothers' Day, but you can always buy it for yourself :) This is available exclusively at Enavose Suntec City store.
